A Desire for the Anointing
We all have an idea of what church should be, look like or what kind of worship service we desire. There are so many new ideas, shifts, and ways to do church that flow through our midst almost every day. For instance: some say that trendy clothes, hairstyles, lights, coffee, doughnuts, and acoustic worship will draw folks. Others say, business attire, structured services and liturgical music will bring a crowd. Obviously, two huge gaps are between these two opinions. Neither thought is wrong. We believe you have to “market” to the kind of harvest you desire to win for your church. But Rhonda and I try to strike a balance that will draw all socioeconomic folks, all ages and multi-ethnic groups. Be assured this is no easy task. We believe in a “whosoever will” gospel! With all of this said: We have determined regardless of the paradigm changes we will not compromise the anointing! We still have a desire for the anointing! We accentuate the Holy Spirit move in our church. We emphasize prayer, worship and the gifts of the Spirit! We allow the expression of these to manifest in our services through our parishioners. We regulate the move of the Spirit through our people by scripture. The Lord is helping us to create an atmosphere of hunger for the anointing. We want every part of our service to be anointed! We put a strong emphasis of consecration on those who will lead in our services. We still reserve the right of way for the Holy Spirit!
